Office accessories are the finishing pieces that make a desk work once the main furniture is in: monitor arms, in-desk power, cable management, ergonomic extras and desk screens. They are often the last thing budgeted for, yet they decide how well a new office in Ireland works from one day to the next.
A monitor arm is one of the simplest ergonomic improvements you can make. Screens on their own stands usually sit too low, so people tilt their heads forward and their necks carry the strain all day. An arm raises the screen to a comfortable height and clears the desk beneath it, something even a better chair cannot do. Browse monitor arms and desk accessories to get started.
Getting power to each desk is often left until installation day, and that is when untidy results happen. Spines, trays and baskets keep cables off the floor, while in-desk power modules bring sockets up to the work surface.
Specify cable management and electrical parts at the same time as the desks. Adding them to an occupied office later means moving everyone out and back again.
Hard surfaces make open plan offices loud. Desktop and acoustic screens mark out a space for each person and soak up some of the sound around them. For the room itself, acoustic tiles, baffles and hanging screens do more spread around than grouped on one wall. Most open offices need a little of both, with screens at the desk and panels for the room.
Anti-fatigue mats, footrests and lumbar supports are easy to overlook. Our ergonomic accessories cover all three, and we recommend a mat alongside every sit-stand desk, because hours on a hard floor bring their own aches.
