Our ergonomic accessories include footrests, anti-fatigue mats and lumbar supports. They are modest items, but together they ease a great deal of everyday discomfort at the desk, often more than a new chair would. They suit Irish offices and home workers looking for simple improvements to an existing setup.
Two hours on a hard floor brings aches of its own, and people often blame the standing desk when the floor is the real cause. An anti-fatigue mat is what keeps a sit-stand desk in regular use rather than parked at sitting height.
Once a chair is adjusted to suit the desk, many people find their feet no longer reach the floor comfortably. The result is pressure on the backs of the thighs and poorer circulation. Set the chair for the desk first, then bring in a footrest for any feet left hanging, rather than dropping the chair and putting the desk height out.
A lumbar cushion helps on a chair with poor support, but a chair with good support built in is better. If someone needs one every day, look at our ergonomic and posture chairs. For neck strain, a monitor arm usually helps more than any cushion.
