Modular seating is soft seating made up of individual units that connect, letting you line a wall with a long run, wrap around a corner or create a freestanding island. It suits breakout areas and receptions in Irish offices where the seating has to follow the room, rather than the other way round.
The key step with modular is drawing the run on your floor plan first. With the shape fixed, you can count up the central, corner and end pieces it calls for. Ordering a number of units without that plan often leaves an arrangement that is too long or too short for the wall.
Corner units are the pieces most often missing from an order. Each turn in the run calls for one, so count them carefully.
For a small, defined corner, sofas and armchairs remain the simpler choice. Modular comes into its own once the run gets longer or the shape gets more complex.
Mawsley modular seating is built with dedicated 90 degree inner and back units, so corners meet neatly with no gap. The Brixworth Collection mixes modular units with sofas, armchairs, booths and coffee tables in the same family, a simpler route when the area calls for several kinds of seat.
If the real need is somewhere quiet to work, modular seating will not provide it, because it brings people together. Privacy booths and pods are the better answer there. For help sketching a layout, call us on 01 816 6600.
