Mesh office chairs bring together every mesh backed chair we stock, across task, executive and visitor seating. Mesh has become the standard in many modern offices for one simple reason: it lets air through. This collection suits open plan offices around Ireland, warm rooms and anyone who finds a padded back too hot.
Why offices moved to mesh
Foam backs hold heat against the spine, and over a long, warm day that gets uncomfortable. It is the complaint behind many chair replacements, and mesh deals with it at the source.
A mesh back is also see-through, so a floor full of them looks lighter and less cluttered than solid upholstery. That helps in open plan spaces where you want to keep clear sight lines.
When mesh is not the answer
- Cold offices: airflow that feels great in summer can leave you chilly in a building that struggles to heat up.
- Formal rooms: for a director's office or client facing boardroom, leather office chairs usually suit the room better.
- Personal preference: some people just like a padded back; our fabric office chairs cater for them.
Not all mesh is equal
Mesh that loses its tension soon stops holding the lower back, and the chair then fails at its main job. How well the mesh is tensioned on its frame counts for more than the look of the weave. Each chair in this listing is specified for contract use, not home use.
