Home office desks are compact designs for a spare room, a landing or a corner of the living room rather than an office floor. You will find the Chester and Fleur designs, slimline Impulse desks and compact sit-stand models from Air and Air Lite. They suit anyone in Ireland who works from home for part or all of the week.
Furniture, not office equipment
A desk built for an office floor can look out of place beside a sofa. The Chester and Fleur are styled as furniture, so they sit comfortably in a room you also relax in. If your desk lives in its own room and you can close the door on it at the end of the day, looks matter less, and a standard straight desk will usually give you a bigger worktop.
Standing matters more at home
Working from home cuts out the small trips that break up an office day, so people tend to sit for longer stretches. That makes a sit-stand desk more useful at home, not less. Air and Air Lite both come in compact sizes that fit domestic rooms, and the full choice is under height adjustable desks.
Pair it with a proper chair
Even the best desk will not help much if you sit at it on a kitchen chair, and home working is often where posture problems begin. Browse our ergonomic posture chairs or the wider task and operator chairs range for seating made for long hours.
