Box and post leg tables use the same tops throughout the range, so choosing the base is the main decision. You will find Impulse boardroom tables on post legs and round tables on box frames. The base affects the look, the legroom and how solid the table feels in an Irish meeting room.
A post leg is one upright column, often finished with a wide foot to spread the load. Because there is so little beneath the top, people get generous legroom and chairs slide in and out easily. The look is light and open.
A box frame links the legs with a rectangular frame under the top. That makes it stiffer, which helps on larger tables, and gives a more solid, architectural feel. The frame does add a rail beneath the top, so check knee room on any table where people will sit for a long time.
On a small round table, a post leg is perfectly steady. On a long boardroom table, thin posts can let the top flex when someone leans on one end. The bigger the table, the more the base has to do, and the more sense a box frame makes.
To browse by type, see meeting and boardroom tables, or try breakout and shaped tables for spaces that call for something less formal than a rectangle.
