Filing cabinets keep foolscap and A4 suspension files in order and close at hand. Our upright cabinets come from the Impulse and Qube ranges. They are simple pieces of furniture, but there is one safety feature you should know about before buying, and you will also need to match the file size your office in Ireland already uses.
Open two loaded drawers at once and a filing cabinet can topple forwards. An anti-tilt mechanism stops this by letting only one drawer open at a time. Every cabinet in this range has one. If you are comparing with a cheaper cabinet elsewhere, check for it first, because it is often the feature that has been cut.
If you have files already, buy for the size you own rather than the one that seems neater on paper.
For a person's own files under their desk, pedestals and drawers usually make more sense than a full cabinet. For large volumes kept behind doors, lateral filing frames fitted inside office cupboards store more in each square metre than upright cabinets can. The Qube steel storage system offers both cabinets and lateral frames.
