Chair spares and parts help you keep a good office chair in use rather than sending it to the skip. When a chair glides poorly, leaves marks on the floor or drags on its wheels, a single replacement part often sorts it out. Our range includes replacement castors, wheels and other components for keeping a sound frame in service.
Check the stem size first
Not every castor fits every chair. The stem, the small pin that slots into the base, comes in different diameters depending on the chair range. Remove one castor, measure its pin, and order the same size. Many office chairs use 11mm, but by no means all, and a near miss will loosen within a few weeks.
Match the castor to the floor
- Carpet: choose hard castors, as soft wheels tend to drag.
- Laminate, wood or tiles: choose soft castors, as hard wheels can scratch and let the chair slide off when someone gets up.
It seems back to front, but a chair that drifts or scuffs the floor usually has the wrong castors for the surface, not faulty ones.
When to replace instead
Some repairs are not worth doing. If a cheap chair's gas lift has failed, or the base has cracked, replace the chair: these parts carry your weight, and the rest of the chair is likely to be equally worn. Find a replacement among our task and operator chairs, or choose heavy duty chairs if the same seat keeps breaking.
